THE NETWORK

Data from sensors deployed sometimes since 1958 and available publicly

ReefTEMPS is a temperature, pressure, salinity and other observables sensor network in coastal area of South, West and South West of Pacific ocean, driven by UMR ENTROPIE. ReefTEMPS is an observatory service from the French national research infrastructure IR ILICO for “coastal environments”.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Long term monitoring of climate change and its effects on coral reefs state and their ressources in th Pacific region

Study climate at big scale and climate regional and locale variations of the coastal area of multiple states of South, South West and West Pacific through temporal series, mainly sea water temperatures.

Temperature variations

Data over 60 years helps determine tendances on sensors sites with the study of its temperature monthly and yearly evolution.

El Nino / La Nina

Temperature monitoring also makes it possible to measure the local impact of climate and El Nino / La Nina phenomena.

Wave height monitoring

High wave events, such as cyclones, cause coastal flooding and severe erosion.
